Katy's Current Tips: Travel Style

Where are you off to this summer? Well personally I can’t
afford a holiday this year, but with this new trend any of us can pretend we’re
out walking through a mountain range or in the middle of the Sahara.

This trend caught my eye when a few months back now Black
Milk added the ‘Middle Earth’ section to their website, as a big Lord of the
Rings/Hobbit fan this pleased me very much. One of my favourite items in the
series was undoubtedly the Middle Earth Map leggings. They are stocked in both
silver and gold and I think they are beautiful. Black Milk have also introduced
many other unique patterns and designs and if you haven’t seen them (where have
you been?!) get on over to the website pronto.

Topshop have a beautiful range including the map print blouse
and the tunic dress, both including similar maps of the same colour palette.
Topshop also have a map bandeau which presents a more summery and up lifting
design, ideal for this years holiday and festival season.

One of my favourite things about this discovery trend is the
colour scheme. The use of warm and bronzing colours with the monochrome whites
and blacks work great and can easily be accessorised. The idea of the vintage
map is what designers have used, ignoring the modern day blues and greens and
sticking to the warmth of the desert style tones.

To accessorise this style is easy, firstly with such a
dynamic colour range you can explore shades to blend in or stand out. There’s
no need to keep safe with khakis and browns, why not step out of the suitcase
and try some white nails and morange lips. I have also included on the image
options for footwear, you would stay with the gladiator sandal or you could
step it up a bit and add a heel.

So there’s no need for satnav this summer ladies, grab a map
and have some great adventures this summer!!

Katy's Current Tips: Missguided Basic Collection‏

So we're all fans of a bargain and this week I've found a great tip for all of you holiday shopping or just looking for your fashion fix! Missguided are known for their budget priced and on trend garments. They keep up with every streak of trend and are always one step ahead.

They have collated a basic range on their website including a wide selection of clothing for very reasonable prices and when compared to 'basic' ranges of other high street stores - I think this collection is a lot lighter on the purse.

Starting at £2.99 with a plain bandeau and stretching up to a pleasing £10.99 blazer, the collection includes our favourites from strap tops to skirts and dresses. From my personal experience I can say that Missguided is of a good quality, you get what you pay for. The range of items in this basic collection surprised me as I didn't expect to see items such as the midi skirt slashed down to such low prices. There's nowhere on the market where you could find so many bargain on trend items in one place and I'm certain that this collection won't last forever!

I have included a selection of some of the best buys in the collection to give you a taster and hopefully attract you to continuing onto the website!

Katy's Current Tips: Stylish On The Sand

There is such a massive range of swim wear and holiday wear on the high street at the moment, from costumes to bikinis and covering to skimpy. What is key however, is that you feel confident and comfortable in what you choose to wear. Everyone wants to look in their beach wear and many of us (guilty as charged!) are very conscious of what we look like and worry whether we are next in line for the 'she should not have worn that!' comment we all imagine everybody is thinking!

I have shown a small selection of affordable styles out there today in some of the most popular stores.

- Firstly, the cut out bikini. A new daring style you may think, but in actual fact this design is made to flatter your figure. Created and tailored to make your waist look more narrow, this number is ideal from those who are slim to those who want to show off their killer curves. From River Island, the example shown is £28.

- Secondly I have shown an example of one of my personal favourites from Missguided. Missguided is great for bargain items, which are always bang on trend and stylish. This bikini is no normal bikini as not only is it a great shape to flatter your chest, it is also given tassles which in my opinion creates a great transition to bikini from costume as some of your tummy is teasingly covered. This beautiful bikini is currently at a bargain price of £19.99.

- The great bikini is from Topshop. With its high waisted bottoms, this bikini is ideal for those with a pear shape. Those that have a slim waist but are more conscious of their bottom and hips. These bottoms mean that not only that you are held in but that focus is attracted straight to the waist. The silky effect makes these look worth a lot more than the great listed price of £25.

- Down to the pink scallop bikini from Topshop. This bikini shows a standard shape and design, suitable for those comfortable in wearing it all out in the summer heat. The colour is complimenting to the sunkissed skin and is very pretty and feminine. This bikini is currently priced at a little higher than the previous at £30.

- Slightly different to the previous, but dont forget - playsuits and jumpsuits are still ideal for the heat! The thin material means that they can still be worn in the sea as they dry quick, they can be worn on evenings out or for casual day wear. They can be dressed up with heels and a clutch or dressed down with flip flops and a bucket and spade. This particular floral number is from River Island and is priced at a steal of £17.

- Finally the all in one fifties style Topshop costume. The yellow and white is classic, with the cut being both pretty and flattering. For those who want to keep it all in, but be feminine and glamorous at the same time. In the same scallop range from Topshop as the pink bikini, this number is listed at £36.

So remember, there is a style for everyone. Nobody has to get into something they're uncomfortable in and every shape is catered for!

Tie-Dye Meets Goth Glam

This week we are going with the theme of 'Tie-Dye meets Goth Glam'.
Tie-Dye has been in trend for a while so we have come up with a new way to wear this summery classic.
Forget hippie, we are moving towards a rock goth glam form of attire that won't leave you sweltering in the heat. Pair some leather shorts with one of our KLC Studios tie-dye vests or shirts, or for the colder night, why not try our tie-dye jumper instead?
No need to feel like your repeating a trend as we have chunky jewellery in store to go with your splashes of colour to make sure your rocking it this summer.

Katy's Current Tips: Cornflour Blue

Cornflower Blue - The colour tip of the week.

Complete your look with a beautiful touch of cornflower blue. By taking the pale pastels of spring and blending them with the vibrant hues of summer you find this eye catching shade.

The traditional tennis whites were knocked out of Wimbledon this year with the pastels taking over. Names from Royalty to Runway represented the trend in the crowds. I have shown examples seen at the event on both Naomi Campbell and Pippa Middleton.

The shade is seen on the high-street in many varied forms. A top tip for wearing this lovely colour is to team it with beige or black. Let it be your only colour and allow it to stand out. A leather jacket in the colder weather or a beige clutch and heels in the sun.

I have collected some current high street items, ideal for this season. Everything from a simple light cami top and smart blazer through to beautiful heels and impact lipstick. Try it out, style to your taste - There's a whole bouquet of styles to choose from!
